Thank you to everyone for your continued support and concern. We're starting this page just so we have a central location where we can keep everyone informed about Louis.
As many of you know, Louis was in skiing accident at about 5:30 last night. The fall fractured his spine in two places and severed his spinal column in his lower back. He went into surgery at around midnight and just got out around 8 am. His status is stable and we're hoping for a safe and speedy recovery. The doctors are currently working on getting him to a pain-free, conscious state.
They performed 3 procedures throughout the night that resulted in the fusing of his c6 to t7 vertebrae. These appear to have been successful.
Again, thank you all for your love and support and we'll try the best we can to keep everyone up to date with any changes.

ReplyDeleteFinn - Can you clarify a few things? Since c6 and t7 aren't near each other, that would be a lot to fuse if they did everything in between and since you mention lower back, did you mean they fused t6 to t7? You also mentioned that he severed his spinal column. Was there any cord damage, any paralysis? We're all obviously worried. Thoughts are with you guys.
ReplyDeleteHi, this is Josie. They fused from c6 to t7 because he broke a vertebrae in his neck and one in his back. We have no news on paralysis yet. But he is awake and talking and still has his personality, so he's still Louis.
DeleteSending waves of love and healing. We're here for you now and later, day or night, anything you need.
